Overview
When you purchase a digital file from Neat Tools, you're buying a personal-use license to print the design — not ownership of the design itself. The files, designs, and intellectual property remain the property of Neat Tools. This page explains exactly what you can and cannot do with our digital files.
What you can do
Print for personal use You can print the files as many times as you need for your own personal use. There's no limit on the number of prints you make for yourself.
Modify your prints Once printed, the physical object is yours to customize. Paint it, label it, drill it, modify it — whatever you want.
Print in any color or material Use whatever filament works best for your needs. PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA — your choice.
Keep the files for personal backup You can store the files on your own devices and cloud storage for personal access. You cannot share that storage with others.
What you cannot do
No reselling prints You cannot sell, trade, or profit from prints made using these files. This includes selling on Etsy, eBay, Amazon, Facebook Marketplace, local marketplaces, craft fairs, or any other channel.
No sharing or redistributing files You cannot share, give away, send, post, or distribute the digital files to anyone — not friends, family, coworkers, online communities, or anyone else. Each license covers one buyer.
No uploading to file-sharing platforms You cannot upload our files to Printables, Thingiverse, MakerWorld, Cults3D, Thangs, GitHub, Google Drive shares, Dropbox shares, Discord servers, Reddit, or any other platform — public or private.
No commercial printing services You cannot use these files to offer 3D printing services to others, even if you don't directly sell the printed item (for example, "I'll print this for you for $X" arrangements).
No claiming the design as your own You cannot represent these designs as your own work. This includes posting prints on social media without crediting Neat Tools when asked, entering them in design contests, or using them in portfolios.
No bulk production These files are for personal use, not for setting up production runs. If you need to produce in volume, contact us about commercial licensing.
No removing watermarks or branding Some files include subtle Neat Tools branding or watermarks. You cannot modify the files to remove these.
Why these rules exist
Neat Tools designs are the result of significant time, testing, and iteration. We sell digital files at an accessible price so makers who already own 3D printers can enjoy our designs at lower cost than buying physical products. This pricing only works if buyers respect the personal-use license — otherwise, every sale becomes a free file shared across the internet, and we can no longer afford to keep designing new products.
Following the license isn't just a legal requirement — it's what keeps Neat Tools designing and releasing new files.
Commercial licensing
If you want to:
- Sell prints of our designs
- Use our designs in a 3D printing service business
- Print in volume for resale
- License our designs for inclusion in another product
Contact us at support@neattools.com to discuss commercial licensing terms. We're open to reasonable arrangements.
Enforcement
We monitor major file-sharing platforms and marketplaces for unauthorized distribution and resale of our designs. Violations are taken seriously and pursued through:
-
DMCA takedown notices to platforms hosting our files without authorization
-
Platform reports to Etsy, eBay, Amazon, Facebook Marketplace, and similar sites for unauthorized resale
-
Account termination with our store — buyers found violating the license will be banned from future purchases
-
Legal action in cases of significant or repeated commercial infringement
Refund policy
Due to the nature of digital products, all digital file sales are final. Once the download link has been delivered, refunds cannot be issued. If you experience a technical issue with your download (corrupted file, missing variants, etc.), contact support@neattools.com and we'll resolve it.
File ownership and updates
When we update a file (improved geometry, fixed issues, added variants), buyers receive access to the updated version through Shopify's re-delivery system. Your purchase covers the current and future versions of the specific product you bought.
Questions
If you're unsure whether a specific use is allowed under this license, just ask. Email support@neattools.com before doing anything that might violate these terms — it's much easier to clarify upfront than to deal with takedowns later.
Summary
Print for yourself, as much as you want. Don't sell prints, don't share files, don't upload them anywhere.
Thanks for supporting Neat Tools. Your purchase keeps us designing.
